Edge Ahead Pre-Law Program
Edge Ahead is a summer prep program where you will gain exposure to important first-year courses, including contracts and legal writing, to develop the skills necessary to succeed in law school.

LLM in American Legal Studies
This program is tailored for lawyers who earned their law degrees abroad and are seeking to learn more about the U.S. legal system in a global context. It is particularly helpful for those wanting to work for multinational corporations or state or federal government.
Online LLM in Health Law and Policy
Learn how to deliver expert legal counsel to clients confronting complex compliance matters — from health care payment methods to the regulation of the Medicare and Medicaid systems to the ethics of biotechnology.
Programs for Non-Lawyers
Online MA in Health Law and Policy
Hofstra Law’s Online MA in Health Law and Policy was designed for non-lawyers in the health field who want to improve their legal literacy. The program is 100% asynchronous and online, and you can choose from three start dates – fall, spring or summer, for your convenience.
MA in Bioethics
The Master of Arts in Bioethics degree program provides professionals in law, public health, medicine, nursing and related fields with the skills and knowledge needed to advance and assume leadership positions in their chosen careers. The program draws on world-class faculty and resources from across Hofstra Law and Hofstra University’s graduate and professional schools.
Paralegal Certificate Program
Paralegals work with attorneys and other law professionals to assist with interviewing clients and witnesses, drafting and processing legal documents, and conducting legal research. The 6-month certificate program prepares students for related professions, and law school.

Externships
The Externship Program at Hofstra Law offers our students the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of legal fields under the direct supervision of experienced practitioners.
In addition to civil and criminal externship programs, Hofstra Law offers specialty externships through our Clinical Prosecution Practicum and Pro Bono Scholars Program.
Fellowships
Hofstra Law attracts students from around the country for its fellowships and scholarships. Most include a summer internship, stipend, and opportunities to interact with leading scholars and practitioners.
Fellowship and scholarship opportunities are offered in areas including business law, child and family advocacy, legal tech, social justice, advanced legal research and writing, LGBTQIA+ rights, immigration, and environmental law.
Pro Bono Work
Pro Bono work provides Hofstra Law students with valuable experience at the intersection between legal theory and practice. Our students have the opportunity to provide pro bono services in the community with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and private law firms or practitioners.
Study Abroad
Hofstra Law’s study abroad programs are designed to introduce students to a broad array of transnational legal issues. Each program includes courses that focus on international or comparative law, as well as extensive interaction with local students, faculty and members of the local legal community.
Journals
Writing for one of Hofstra Law’s five nationally recognized journals is a great resume builder, especially if it relates to your area of study. Students are eligible to join a journal after their first year of law school and must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, make a strong showing in a writing competition, or submit an article of publishable quality.
Advocacy and Trial Practice
Hofstra Law is ranked 8th in the nation for Trial Advocacy from U.S. News and World Report. Through a series of student advocacy organizations including Mock Trial, Moot Court, and the Dispute Resolution Society, and the Center for Legal Advocacy, Hofstra Law is preparing future lawyers and leaders that are practice-ready.

The Academic Success Program is one of your most valuable resources from the time you begin law school to the time you sit for the bar exam, offering guides and skills workshops, helping students develop and refine analytical and writing skills that are vital for continued success in law school and in professional practice, as well as providing post-graduation support to ensure our students are prepared to pass the bar exam. Our advisors are always available for one-on-one training.
