Biography

Celia joined the Office of Career Services as Director of Career and Professional Development in February 2019. She holds a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from SUNY College at Buffalo and a J.D. from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. Celia returned to Hofstra after serving since 1999 as an associate, named partner and then of counsel at a prominent New York City criminal defense firm, handling all aspects of cases from inception to post-verdict motions. In this role, she represented individuals charged in complex white-collar crimes involving securities fraud, bank fraud, money laundering, grand larceny, Medicaid fraud, criminal antitrust, tax fraud and RICO, in addition to those charged with serious felonies such as homicide, rape, kidnapping, arson and drug offenses. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Hofstra Law, teaching second year students litigation skills and techniques through the Foundational Lawyering Skills course and is a volunteer instructor for students participating in the NITA Program. She has served as a legal commentator for FOX News and a guest lecturer at several local law schools. An active alumna, Celia was the Orientation speaker for Hofstra Law in 2013, and has served on the Dean’s Advisory Board. She is also a certified yoga instructor with several teaching certifications.
