Biography

Professor Gyory is an Associate Professor of Law. She writes about the intersection of employment law with the rights of pregnant, parenting, and caregiving people. Her research examines how anti-discrimination and accommodation laws influence the ability of parents and caregivers to engage in the labor market while balancing work with care. Her scholarship has been published or is forthcoming in the California Law Review, Villanova Law Review, and NYU Review of Law & Social Change.

Before joining the Hofstra Law faculty, Professor Gyory was Associate Director and Acting Assistant Professor of Lawyering at New York University School of Law. Prior to entering academia, she served as the Interim Executive Director of the NYU Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Center and worked as a staff attorney for the New York City Commission on Human Rights, where she combatted discrimination and harassment in employment, housing, and public accommodations. Before that, she advised New Yorkers on paid family leave and other workplace protections for parents and caregivers at A Better Balance.

Professor Gyory holds a J.D. from NYU School of Law and a B.A. in English from Barnard College. During Law School, she served as the Senior Articles Editor of the NYU Review of Law & Social Change and participated in the Reproductive Justice Clinic.

Professor Gyory teaches Employment Law and Constitutional Law.
