The goal of the Mentorship Program is to provide participating students with the opportunity to develop productive and long-lasting relationships with alumni and help them gain additional levels of support. Alumni provide students with career advice, practice area information, and introductions to professional organizations and other practitioners, as well as invitations to professional events and guidance on appropriate professional behavior and ethics. This program introduces students to the benefits of networking and helps students begin their professional network. The alumni and students who participate in the program form a community.

There is no substitute for preparation when it comes to receiving a job offer. One great way to prepare is through a mock interview to practice your interview skills in a realistic setting while receiving practical tips for success on the interview process. The mock interview with practicing attorneys, who are often alumni of Hofstra Law, offers another opportunity for you to network. These mock interviews can often turn into real interviews, landing students jobs with the interview’s employer.

Career Services offers a number of mock interview programs throughout the year in which students are matched with practicing attorneys. Mock interview sessions are 20 minutes in length and include constructive feedback from the interviewer. Students are also invited to participate in mock interviews with career counselors, as well as being paired on an as-needed basis with a helpful alum. Career Services also offers students the opportunity to use an online system to record their answers to interview questions, then observe their own performance and receive feedback from counselors.
