PJF - Public Justice Foundation
Help Us ... Help You ... Help Others
Committed to ensuring that public interest law remains a viable avenue for Hofstra Law Students, Public Justice Foundation (PJF) raises funds each year to provide fellowships to students who provide vital legal services to those whose needs would otherwise go unserved.
The continued success of the PJF rests upon the efforts and generosity of others. Please help us ensure that Hofstra Law students can continue to contribute to the pursuit of public justice by making a monetary donation or donating an auction item (PDF), advertising in our auction booklet (PDF), and/or attending our Annual Gala Goods and Services Auction.

PJF Outstanding Alumni Award recipient Lorna B. Goodman '75
Each year, the Gala Goods and Services auction raises thousands of dollars for Hofstra Law School students who spend their summer providing quality legal services to those who would otherwise be marginalized and forgotten in our legal system. We hope to set a new record this year, and we need your support! Your contributions are greatly appreciated, and may take the form of a financial donation, auction item donation, or attendance at the auction.
In the past, PJF grant recipients have been placed in the following organizations: Administration for Children's Services, Legal Aid Society, Local Initiatives Support Corporation, Mental Hygiene Legal Service, Nassau/Suffolk Law Services, New Hampshire Public Defender, New Jersey Office of the Public Defender/Law Guardian, New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, New York Legal Assistance Group, Office of the Public Defender, North Carolina, United Nations Development Programme (Romania), Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and the Workplace Project.
MAKE A DONATION!
As usual, contributed items from the local and Hofstra community are the foundation of our auction, and we need your help in collecting them. Do you, your family or friends have a business that would like to donate to a worthy cause? Or what about your local businesses - professional clothing stores, golf courses, hair and nail salons, mechanics, bookstores, or coffee shops? Or do you have a special skill that you would like to share with the school? Past donations have included music lessons, home-cooked meals, babysitting services, dinner outings, trips to the movies, tickets to local sports events, and even autographed memorabilia. We look forward to outstanding contributions again this year.
Our hope this year is to focus on items appealing to current and future lawyers. Donations can include gift certificates (hair, nails, oil changes, coffee, dinners), gift baskets (bath and body products, small electronics, coffee, wine or food), or any number of items or services, or even cash. Note that all our donors - along with their contact information - are listed in our auction booklet with their donated items; don't miss this great opportunity to make lifetime customers of hundreds of current and future lawyers. Donations are tax deductible for the business; just ask PJF for our tax-exempt number. Since this program is managed by a student organization, 100 percent of the proceeds go directly to supporting students.
JOIN THE FUN!
All attendees get the opportunity to bid on all available lots and will enjoy a fully catered buffet as well as a wine and beer bar. Tickets are being sold until the start of the auction, and are available at the school.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact PJF by e-mailing pjflaw@hofstra.edu or calling us at (516) 463-5922.
Thank you in advance for your support, and we look forward to seeing you at this year's auction.
Sincerely,
Tracie Knapp and Roya Vasseghi
