Hofstra Law School Presents 2010 U.S. Census Panel

Hofstra Law School will host a program on the 2010 United States Census on Monday, March 30, 2009 from 11:10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Room 242.  The event is free and open to the public.  To view the webcast, visit Hofstra Law's webchannel law.hofstra.edu/webcast.

This event is part of Define '09:  New Challenges, New Solutions, a year-long series of Hofstra University programs designed to examine the new presidential administration, its policies and initiatives, the challenges we currently face and ways of addressing our country's most pressing issues.
 
The Census Panel will provide an introductory overview of the census process in anticipation of the 2010 U.S. Census.  Planning is already well underway and there are a number of controversial issues at play.  Panelists will explain the origins of the census, why we do it and how it occurs. 

Panelists include:
•    Lester Farthing, New York Regional Director for the U.S. Census Bureau
•    Eric Lane, Eric J. Schmertz Distinguished Professor of Public Law and Public Service at Hofstra
•    Lawrence Levy, Executive Director, National Center for Suburban Studies at Hofstra University
•    Jeffrey M. Wice, Special Professor of Law at Hofstra
