The Census Panel will provide an introductory overview of the census process in anticipation of the 2010 U.S. Census.  Planning is already well underway and there are a number of controversial issues at play.  Panelists will explain the origins of the census, why we do it and how it occurs.

  • Eric Lane, Eric J. Schmertz Distinguished Professor of Public Law and Public Service at Hofstra
  • Lawrence Levy, Executive Director, National Center for Suburban Studies at Hofstra University

The panel will also discuss opportunities for students to get involved through volunteer or paid employment.  For more information on the 2010 U.S. Census, visit its Web site at
