Biography

Joel Roselin is the assistant director of the Gitenstein Institute for Health Law and Policy. He is also a senior advisor to The Hastings Center in Garrison, New York.

Before joining Hofstra Law, Joel was the director of public programs for the Hastings Center, and from 2006 through 2017, he served as the assistant director of research compliance education at Columbia University. He has held positions at the Veterans Administration National Center for Ethics in Health Care, Harvard Medical School’s Division of Medical Ethics, and Choice in Dying: the National Society for the Right to Die. Before working in health care ethics, Joel had a successful career in medical marketing and communications.

Joel is a lecturer in bioethics at Columbia University, and he has taught at Harvard Medical School, Tufts University School of Medicine, NYU School of Medicine, Long Island University, St. Paul’s School, and Marymount Manhattan College. He holds degrees in philosophy and ethics from SUNY Purchase and Harvard Divinity School, and is a graduate of the Harvard University Fellowship in Medical Ethics. He lives in Manhattan with his wife and three children.
