Biography

Lisa M. Petrocelli, Esq. is the Managing Attorney and Project Director of the Center for Children, Families, and the Law at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, a program that provides interdisciplinary education, training, legal services, and research to benefit children and families engaged in the legal system, with a focus on family law, guardianship, mediation, and alternatives to litigation. She previously served as Executive Director and Managing Attorney of the Hofstra Law Access to Justice Incubator, a non-profit affiliate of Hofstra University that employed recent Hofstra Law graduates in one-year post-graduate Fellowship positions to render civil legal services to eligible clients. Prior to joining Hofstra Law and following several years in private practice, she served as a Principal Law Clerk to Judge in Nassau County Supreme Court in an I.A. Part primarily dedicated to MHL Article 81 guardianship proceedings.

Lisa graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany with honors in English, where she was also inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, Signum Laudis (General Academia Honors Society), and Sigma Tau Delta (International English Honors Society). She thereafter received her Juris Doctor from Hofstra University School of Law.

She is currently a Member of the Board of Directors of the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association, and a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Columbian Lawyers Association of Nassau County, and the Nassau County Courthouse Kiwanis. She is also a past Member of the Board of Directors of the Nassau County Bar Association, a past Officer of the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association, a past Chair of the Elder Law, Social Services, and Health Advocacy Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association, a past President of the Great Neck Lawyers Association, and a past participant in the Mentoring Program sponsored by the Nassau County Bar Association. In November, 2007, Lisa was inducted as a Fellow of the New York Bar Foundation.

Lisa has served as a lecturer/presenter for the Nassau County Bar Association, the Columbian Lawyers Association, the Nassau County Department of Health and Human Services, the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Judicial Institute, and Hofstra University School of Law.
