Assignments for First Week of Class
- Go to Blackboard and make sure you have access to this course. Class announcements will be distributed using the Blackboard e-mail list and you are responsible for them.
- Download the first installment of the syllabus and read the pages through Assignment 1 with care. You are responsible for the contents, which include course policies regarding grading, remote attendance, and other important subjects.
- Obtain the first volume of the Appendix of course materials. This may be done by downloading it from the Blackboard site or obtaining a copy from the Law School Copy Room located in the lower level of the Law School.
- Prepare Assignments 1-3 for course meeting of Tuesday, January 18.

Our main text for the course will be:
Ayres & Klass, Studies in Contract Law (9thed. 2017).
We will also use a supplement containing selections from the Restatement (Second) of Contracts and the Uniform Commercial Code:
George & Korobkin, Selections from the Restatement (Second) and UCC (2021).
For our first class, please read:
- Pages 1 through 6 and pages 62 through 65 from the Ayres casebook;
- The editors’ introduction to the George & Korobkin supplement;
- Section 1 of the Restatement; and
- Sections 1-102, 1-103(b), 1-201(b) (3, 12, 20), 1-302, 2-102, 2-105, and 2-106 of the Uniform Commercial Code.
