Center for Children, Families and the Law

The Center for Children, Families and the Law was established in 2001 in response to the urgent need for more effective representation for children and families in crisis. Through the Center, students at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University are offered unique opportunities to participate in community service, public policy projects, and research, all designed to benefit children and families involved with the legal system. To carry out its mission, the Center partners with national and local organizations such as the American Bar Association’s Youth at Risk Commission,  the Association of Family and Concilation Courts (AFCC), the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office, the New York State Permanent Judicial Commission on Justice for Children, and the Youth Advocacy Center.
