1980

Allan Brenner passed away on Jan. 2, 2017.

Merrie Frankel was appointed to the board of directors of Agree Realty in September 2016.

David Lazer, an attorney at Lazer, Aptheker, Rosella & Yedid, was featured in “Ones to Watch in Law” in the Sept. 9-15, 2016, edition of Long Island Business News.


1982

David Feldman joined Ogletree Deakins as a shareholder in September 2016.


1983

Patricia Galteri was elected president and managing partner of Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, effective Sept. 1, 2017. She chairs the management committee as well as the firm’s wills, trusts & estates department. She was also featured in “Ones to Watch in Law” in the July 7-13 edition of Long Island Business News.

Marc Hamroff, a partner at Moritt Hock & Hamroff, was appointed to the eight-state affiliate board of directors of the American Heart Association in August 2016.

Lynn Poster-Zimmerman was installed as first vice president of the Suffolk County Bar Association at its annual installation dinner in June 2017.

Regina “Reggie” Seltzer passed away on June 29, 2016. Born in Poland, she and her family fled the country before World War II when she was 6. They lived briefly in pre-Israel Palestine before coming to the United States and settling in the Bronx. A Patchogue-Medford school librarian earlier in her career, she served one term on the Brookhaven Town Board from 1976-79 and began a six-year stint on the town Planning Board before receiving a J.D. from Hofstra Law in 1983, when she was 53. She was 70 years old, recently widowed and a grandmother in 2000 when, upset that wealthy Republican Rep. Michael Forbes was changing parties to run for re-election to Congress as a Democrat, she launched a primary challenge against him. She beat Forbes by 35 votes, but lost the general election to Republican Felix Grucci. She returned to her legal career and continued to work until her death. She is survived by her son Eric Seltzer, his wife, Nealle, and their daughters, Veronica Jean and Bryn.

Hon. George Silver was appointed deputy chief administrative judge for New York City in July 2017.


1984

David Chidekel joined Michelman & Robinson as a partner in June 2017.

Rick Collins, a partner at Collins Gann McCloskey & Barry, was installed as vice president of the Nassau County Bar Association in June 2017.

Patricia M. Meisenheimer, an attorney at MargolinBesunder, was installed as president of the Suffolk County Bar Association at its annual installation dinner in June 2017.


1985

Steve Candito was named CEO of Ecochlor, a developer of proprietary ballast water treatment systems specifically designed to safely and economically eliminate the worldwide transfer of aquatic invasive species, in Aug. 2017.

Margery Weinroth, attorney at law at Margery Weinroth Esq., was named a director of the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association.


1986

Ellen Kessler, a partner at Ruskin Moscou Faltischek, was featured in “Who’s Who in Women in Professional Services” in the Aug. 19-25, 2016, edition of Long Island Business News.


1987

John Sparling joined Cullen and Dykman as a partner in September 2016.


1988

Justin M. Block, of counsel at Saltzman, Chetkof & Rosenberg, was named president-elect of the Suffolk County Bar Association at its annual installation dinner in June 2017.

Anthony Cummings was elevated to partner at Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman in Jan. 2017. He also was voted president-elect/first vice president and designated chair of the development committee of Hope for Youth in Sept. 2016.

Myra Sencer passed away on Jan. 17, 2017.


1989

Robin Abramowitz, a partner at Lazer Aptheker Rosella & Yedid, was named a delegate of the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association.

Peter Campisi, Jr., was promoted to senior vice president and deputy general counsel at Bristol-Myers Squibb Company in August 2016.

Kim Ciesinski, a founding partner of Schwartz & Ciesinski, was featured in “Ones to Watch in Law” in the March 10-16, 2017, edition of Long Island Business News.

Emily Franchina, an attorney at Franchina & Giordano, received the Rona Seider, Esq. Award from the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association on June 21, 2016, in recognition of her service to women and the law.

Vincent J. Messina, Jr., a partner at Sinnreich Kosakoff & Messina, was installed as secretary of the Suffolk County Bar Association at its annual installation dinner in June 2017.
