Hofstra Law Celebrates 40 Years of Impact
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — The Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University held its 40th Anniversary Gala to celebrate four decades of impact on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at Yankee Stadium. The gala honored Randy L. Levine ’80, president of the New York Yankees and senior counsel at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP.
The gala raised more than $500,000 through ticket sales, sponsorships and auction purchases. All proceeds will directly benefit Hofstra Law’s Scholarship Fund.
“Hofstra Law has come a long way since we opened our doors in 1970,” said Dean Nora V. Demleitner. “Forty years later we have almost 10,000 accomplished alumni, a talented faculty who make an impact in the profession and the academy, and approximately 1,000 highly diverse students who hail from around the country and, increasingly, the world. Our story is not just about growth, but about a law school that is a leader in legal education and about students, faculty and alumni who make a difference every day.”

The Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University is located 40 minutes from New York City in suburban Long Island.
