HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — Hofstra Law School has launched a new online video series titled "The Law at Work." The videos, available at
http://www.youtube.com/HofstraLawSchool, feature prominent Hofstra Law graduates discussing their legal education and professional experiences. Geared toward prospective students but relevant to a broader audience, the 10 videos introduce viewers to the Hofstra Law community and give them a flavor for the institution through the eyes of a graduate or current student.
"A Hofstra Law education helps lawyers develop exciting careers that make an impact in their respective fields," said Dean Nora V. Demleitner. "We hope that this new series will introduce prospective students and members of the public to the exciting and important legal work that our alumni conduct every day. Perhaps most important, we hope that viewers will learn firsthand about the experience of being a Hofstra Law student and how it helps shape their professional identity."
In one of the first installments of "The Law at Work," Randy Levine '80, president of the New York Yankees, discusses his experiences in the field of labor and employment law. Levine previously served as George Steinbrenner's lawyer, chief counsel to the New York Yankees, labor commissioner for New York City and chief labor negotiator for Major League Baseball following the 1995 baseball strike.
Another graduate featured in "The Law at Work" is Sallie Manzanet-Daniels '88, an associate justice in the Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court. Before her appointment to the Supreme Court, Justice Manzanet-Daniels worked as a defense lawyer and trial judge. She credits Hofstra Law with inspiring her to become a criminal defense attorney, as well as equipping her with a solid foundation in the law.
Current students also make an appearance, sharing their favorite first-year moments and their overall experience of being a student at Hofstra Law.
