HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — Hofstra Law School named three second-year law students as the inaugural Kessler Advocates:  Constantine Coritsidis of Bayside, Joshua Hochberg of Westbury and Ebone Woods of Uniondale. The Kessler Advocates program recognizes upper level law students who have excelled in trial and moot court competitions and have a demonstrated interest in pursuing careers in civil and criminal litigation.

Each recipient receives mentoring assistance, special externship opportunities and a scholarship toward the tuition for the E. David Woycik, Jr. Intensive Trial Techniques Program.

Coritsidis interned at the Broome County and Queen’s District Attorney’s Offices.  He hopes to pursue a career in criminal law and recently placed first in Hofstra Law School’s Moot Court Association competition.

Hochberg interned at the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office and would like join the U.S. Department of Justice.  He is a member of the Long Island Moot Court team and has competed in two American Association for Justice mock trial competitions.

Woods interned with The Honorable Michele M. Woodard of the Nassau County Supreme Court and hopes to pursue a career in litigation.  She is active in several student organizations and serves as a Nassau County Youth Court Trial Advocacy trainer.

The Kessler Advocates was established to honor Hofstra Law Professor Lawrence W. Kessler for his extraordinary efforts in expanding and developing the school’s Intensive Trial Techniques Program, founded by Professor Abe Ordover in 1980.

Professor Kessler has brought innovation and creativity to the Trial Techniques Program by concentrating on the development of a skills set designed to enhance the students’ collective advocacy experience and to mirror the realities of lawyering today.

To date, Kessler’s program has trained thousands of students who have benefited enormously from this hands-on learning experience taught by some of the best litigators in the country.
