Jennifer A. Gundlach has been named senior associate dean for experiential education at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University.
Several members of the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University community will receive awards in recognition of their success in the Region 2 rounds of the 37th Annual National Trial Competition this year. The awards will be presented on Monday, July 30, during the New York State Bar Association’s Trial Lawyers Section Summer Meeting in Woodstock, Vermont.
For 23 years, the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University’s student-run Public Justice Foundation (PJF) has raised money to provide financial support to law students who devote their time and legal skills to public interest organizations over the summer. This year, PJF raised an all-time high of $74,381 at its annual Goods & Services Auction in March. These funds are providing 51 law students with stipends for unpaid summer internships in the public sector they otherwise would be unable to accept due to monetary constraints.
Five Hofstra Law students who are working for public interest organizations over the summer have been selected as members of the prestigious Equal Justice Works Summer Corps, an AmeriCorps-funded program. Summer Corps participants provide critically needed legal assistance to low-income and underserved communities in the United States.
