Biography

Jack M. Platt practices corporate law, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, as a sole practitioner with offices at 767 Third Avenue, New York, New York, sharing space with five other lawyers whose areas of practice complement his.  Jack formerly practiced corporate and securities law with Shearman & Sterling, with Kramer Levin Nessen Kamin & Soll, and with Gordon Hurwitz Weitzen Shalov & Wein.

His practice also emphasizes, among other things, representation regarding employment and consulting agreements and executive compensation arrangements, partnership, shareholder and LLC membership arrangements and agreements, distributorship and licensing arrangements, trademark matters, and corporate oversight and supervision of miscellaneous business arrangements, disputes and litigation.

Jack is a graduate of the State University of New York at Stony Brook (B.A., 1973) and Hofstra University School of Law (J.D., with distinction, 1977).  He lives with his wife, Michelle, in Port Washington, New York.  He has two sons, a daughter-in-law, two fantastic granddaughters, two remarkable step-grandchildren, and at least one more fantastic grandchild on the way.

Jack enjoys skiing and scuba diving, and has sailed in hundreds of yacht races, including seven ocean races from Rhode Island to Bermuda.  Jack is also a stand-up comedian, and has appeared numerous times at Governor's Comedy Club, The Brokerage Comedy Club and McGuire's Comedy Club on Long Island, at Gotham Comedy Club, New York Comedy Club, Eastside Comedy Club, NY Hysterical Society, Broadway Comedy Club, and the Metropolitan Room in New York City, and the Turning Point in Piermont, New York.
