Criminal Law

The Criminal Law Concentration is designed to help students prepare for a career in criminal law by providing a curriculum that integrates the theory, doctrine and skills that are essential to criminal-court practice.

All concentration students must complete the doctrinal courses that are the building blocks of the curriculum: Criminal Law; Evidence; and Criminal Procedure I and II. Students can also choose from a broad array of electives to pursue their interests in more specialized areas related to criminal law and to complete a substantial writing project.

Students must also develop litigation skills, first in Trial Techniques, which provides an “immersion” experience in fundamental litigation skills, and ending in a “culminating experience” that permits them to apply in the real world the theory, doctrine and skills they have learned in the curriculum.
