The Prenatal and Perinatal Advocacy Project will develop advocacy initiatives and a legal clinic in light of opportunities made available by the Affordable Care Act. The project will address gaps in the Affordable Care Act’s provisions that limit access to or compromise the quality of health care for women and their infants in the target population. The project will entail groundbreaking models of collaboration among clinicians, payers, community health partnerships and patients. Students will participate in the creation and execution of these initiatives as part of their concentration in Health Law.
The Health Law Clinic, scheduled to begin in spring 2014, will give students the opportunity to practice professional skills as they work on legal cases, advocacy projects and policy initiatives specific to increasing access to health care and improving health care delivery as the Affordable Care Act is implemented.
