Matia S. Nikolovienis was promoted to partner at Cohen & Perfetto in January 2013.
Mecca Sykes-Santana was appointed New York State’s chief diversity officer by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in September 2013. She previously served as the executive director of the Office of Equal Opportunity & Diversity Management at the New York City Department of Education (DOE), where she established the DOE’s Diversity and Inclusion program and created the department’s first Minority and Women Owned Business Diversity Council.
John Zervopoulos, an associate at Salenger, Sack, Kimmel & Bavaro and the managing attorney of the firm’s Woodbury, NY, office, was named to the board of directors of the Nassau-Suffolk Trial Lawyers Association in July 2013.

Charles Avigliano joined Steuben Foods as IP counsel on September 30, 2013.
Elias N. Fillas, a supervising partner at Sacco & Fillas, in Astoria, NY, was honored by the Astoria Civic Association at its annual dinner on April 6, 2013. The ACA dinner honors persons who have made a mark locally.

2002

Eric S. Cohen joined Goldberg Segalla in March 2013 as a special counsel. He counsels clients in a broad spectrum of professional liability and business and commercial lawsuits.
Craig H. Handler joined Twomey, Latham, Shea, Kelley, Dubin & Quartararo in September 2013 as an associate in the firm’s Riverhead office. His practice is focused on complex construction, real estate and insurance litigation.
Michael J. McIsaac joined Rivkin Radler as an associate in the firm’s health services and corporate & commercial practice groups in May 2013.
Charles A. Omage was named executive vice president and general counsel of Encore Enterprises in June 2013. Encore is a privately owned national real estate investment company with corporate headquarters in Dallas, TX.
Lisa R. Schoenfeld, a partner at Schlissel, Ostrow, Karabatos, was elected the new chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the New York State Bar Association. She took office on June 1, 2013.

Samuel A. Khalil was elected a partner at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy in January 2013. He is a member of the firm’s financial restructuring group.
Jeanine Margiano became a partner at Windels Marx Lane & Mittendorf in August 2013. She concentrates her practice in the areas of commercial and real estate lending, municipal finance transactions and general corporate matters.
Michael A.H. Schoenberg, an associate at Farrell Fritz, was appointed to the board of trustees of the Long Island chapter of the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America in October 2013. He also was promoted to counsel, effective January 1, 2014.

Jody Brockman joined Simpson Thacher & Bartlett as a staff attorney in August 2013.

2005

Lorena Alfaro joined the Law Office of George A. Terezakis in Mineola, NY, in July 2013.
Robert M. Connelly joined Farrell Fritz in May 2013 as an associate in the firm’s commercial litigation department, concentrating in land use and municipal law.
Kenneth M. Kern was named a partner at Genser Dubow Genser & Cona in January 2013. He leads the firm’s health care department, concentrating his practice in health care facility representation.
Gisella Rivera was promoted to of counsel in the corporate law practice at Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone in early 2013.
Grant C. Wright joined Segal McCambridge Singer & Mahoney in October 2013 as an associate in the firm’s Philadelphia office.

2006

U.S. Army Capt. John Chiara, a judge advocate in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps with 4th Legal Operations Detachment, Queens, NY, is serving with 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom at Forward Operating Base Spin Boldak in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. He arrived in Afghanistan in June 2013, and his deployment will last from nine to 12 months. Once it is completed, he will return to his job as a Manhattan assistant district attorney.
Jeffrey Dodge assumed a faculty position at the University of Idaho College of Law as the associate dean for students and administration in August 2012. In October 2013, he was named interim vice president for enrollment management for the University of Idaho, a position he will hold until June 2014.
Navarro Gray was appointed as Hackensack’s first African-American public defender in September 2013.
Will Rosellini, the chairman of Rosellini Scientific, was appointed on March 11, 2013, to the board of directors of Marathon Patent Group, an intellectual property services and monetization company.

2007

Robert M. Harper was named co-chair of the Legislation and Governmental Relations Committee of the New York State Bar Association Trusts and Estates Law Section in January 2013.
Kirra N. Jones joined Polsinelli Shughart as an associate in the firm’s Kansas City office in February 2013. She is a litigator in the areas of toxic and mass tort.

Michael S. Katzen joined Goldberg Segalla in February 2013 as an associate in the Princeton office. He is a member of the firm’s labor and employment practice group.


Radek Pawlowski joined Royalton Partners in April 2013 as the outside counsel in the private equity advisor’s Warsaw, Poland, office. Since 2012, he had been affiliated with the Dentons law firm in Warsaw.

2009

Danielle B. Gatto, an associate at Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo & Terrana, was recognized by the Huntington Chamber of Commerce at the 5th Annual Celebrate Long Island’s Young Professionals event, held on May 8, 2013. The event showcases the top young influential people under the age of 30 on Long Island from various career fields.
Kristine Linnihan married Joseph Cook in February 2013, and they reside in Minneapolis. She is admitted to the Rhode Island and Minnesota bars but is not currently practicing law.
Kristine S. McCann was promoted to chief compliance officer at Gemini Fund Services in May 2013. She is responsible for overseeing the company’s compliance program, as well as acting as a liaison between Gemini and external audit firms and regulatory agencies.
Elizabeth E. Schlissel joined Smith, Sovik, Kendrick & Sugnet in September 2013 as an associate in the firm’s Uniondale office.
