Former Gov. David A. Paterson attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Hempstead on June 26, 2013, to mark the renaming of Fulton Elementary School, from which he had graduated, as David A. Paterson Elementary School. The new name became official in September.
Mitchell Sabshon was named CEO of Inland Real Estate Investment Corporation in August 2013. He most recently served as an executive vice president and chief operating officer of Cole Real Estate Investments. Before joining Cole, he spent almost 10 years at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in various leadership positions, including president and CEO of Goldman Sachs Commercial Mortgage Capital.
Helaine F. Lobman, the assistant general counsel at Mitsubishi Electric US, looks forward to celebrating the five-year anniversary of Bob’s Blankie Brigade, a nonprofit organization that has donated a total of 1,014 blankets and quilts to hospitals in Florida, New Jersey and Pennsylvania for pediatric oncology, indigent clinics and to domestic violence shelters. An additional 932 blankets were donated to preemie and chemo caps for neonatal and infusion units.

Sonja White-Simpson passed away on May 4, 2013. She devoted much of her life to victims of domestic violence as the managing attorney for the domestic violence unit of Memphis Area Legal Services, immediate past president of the Memphis & Shelby County Domestic Violence Council and president of the board of the Memphis Area Women’s Council.
