Philip A. Crotty was honored in June 2012 by the New York State Legislature
in a resolution upon the occasion of his retirement after many years of service
to the Orange County Industrial Development Agency. He served in private
practice until 2005 as a founding partner of Duggan, Crotty and Dunn.

Hon.
Maryanne Trump Barry, a senior
judge on the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, was featured by Mount Holyoke
College in its “Celebrating 175 Years of Women of Influence” gallery.
Ralph M.
Stein passed away on October 16, 2012. He
was a founding member of the faculty at Pace Law School and a constitutional
law expert.

Abraham B. Krieger, a senior member in the commercial real estate, real estate litigation and corporate finance law practices of Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, was appointed to the Grievance Committee for the 10th Judicial District by
Justice A. Gail Prudenti in March 2012. In August 2012, he was named co-chair of the commercial real estate practice at Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein.
Dorothea-Maria “Doria” Rosen was nominated by President Obama on March 9, 2012, as the new U.S. ambassador to Micronesia, the island nation in the western Pacific.

Philip Nostramo passed away on January 29, 2012. He worked for the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance as an administrative law judge for 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Veronica and their children, Gloria and Julie.
Robert Rager passed away on March 7, 2012.
Lynne Winograd passed away on May 13, 2012. She is survived by her wife and law partner, Lari Schwartz.

Corey Bearak was selected as Networker of the Year by Gotham City Networking
and was honored with Life Membership by the Order Knights of Pythias. He also
guided the re-election of prominent labor leader Daneek Miller (Amalgamated
Transit Union), who is co-chair of the MTA Labor Coalition, and was an advisor
to the successful congressional primary campaign of state Assemblywoman Grace
Meng.
Joanne Erde, a partner at Duane Morris in the firm’s Miami office,
received a citation for excellence in the area of health care in the 2012 Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for
Business.

Eric Scheler, a
senior partner at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, was elected
chairman of the board of trustees of Lehigh University, effective July 1, 2012.
Gary Y. Wirth joined Moritt Hock in July 2012 as partner and chair of the
firm’s construction and surety practice group.

Jay G. Baris, partner and chair of the investment management practice at Morrison & Foerster, co-wrote the article “SEC Concept Release Tackles Investment Company Use of Derivatives,” 45 Review of Securities & Commodities Regulation 19 (2012).

Bramnick, the New Jersey Assembly Republican
leader, appeared on the September 14, 2012, episode of What America Thinks with Scott Rasmussen to discuss Election 2012
and economic policy.
Suzanne
Mentzinger passed away on April 26, 2012, at
her home. She is survived by her two children and their spouses and two
grandchildren.
Michael D. Patrick, a partner at Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen and Loewy, wrote the column “State Immigration Laws: The Next Battleground,” which was published in the December 2011 issue of The Metropolitan Corporate
Counsel. In June 2012, he was featured as one of the top 20 lawyers in immigration law
in the country by Lawdragon, a Los Angeles-based
networking website for lawyers and clients.

Jesse R. Baker passed away on April 21, 2012. He had a long and successful career with the firm of Gutman, Mintz, Baker & Sonnenfeldt. He and his wife, Beverly ’97, were active in the BLSA Alumni Association at Hofstra Law and generously contributed to the BLSA Alumni Scholarship. A memorial service was held on May 2 at The Riverside Church in New York City. The family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University for a scholarship to be established in his name. Ilene S. Cooper, partner at Farrell Fritz, was elected as the new chair of New York State Bar Association Trusts and Estates Section and took office during the week of January 23, 2012.
Alan Koslow, shareholder and director of the gaming practice at Becker & Poliakoff, was featured in The Miami Herald story “Florida lawyers hit jackpot in representing gaming industry” on March 18, 2012.
