Hon. Denny Chin Discusses the Challenges in Sentencing On September 10, the U.S. Circuit Judge Denny Chin delivered the 23rd Howard and Iris Kaplan Memorial Lecture. In his remarks, Chin addressed his most famous — and infamous — cases, including the sentencing of Bernard Madoff. She works with the commission’s members to advise the mayor on policies to ensure equality for women in New York City, including in the fields of employment, housing, education and health care. Larren M. Nashelsky '91, co-chair of the bankruptcy and restructuring practice and a member of the executive committee at Morrison & Foerster, was elected as chair of the firm in July 2012. Risco Mention-Lewis '93, a Nassau County assistant district attorney, was nominated as deputy commissioner of the Suffolk County Police Department by Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone in July 2012. She is the first African-American and the first woman to hold the position of deputy commissioner. Michael Yadgar '99 joined DLA Piper in May 2011 as a legal director to open and lead the firm's office in Bahrain. Yadgar, along with his wife, Helen, and 3-year-old, Zachary, also welcomed newborn Levi Joshua to the family in May 2012.
