We strongly encourage student membership in bar associations. Bar association membership offers law students the opportunity to learn about the actual practice of law through committee participation, seminars, publications and volunteer projects.
Important networking opportunities are also available. Many Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University students and graduates have reported obtaining internships and postgraduate employment opportunities as a result of relationships that were first developed through a bar association membership.
Bar association student memberships are available on a national, state and local level and through various specialty and affinity bar associations, often at steeply discounted student membership rates.
