About the Moot Court Association

The Moot Court Association is a a student-run organization that is dedicated to the development of student's appellate and oral advocacy skill in preparation for upper-level courses and national moot court competitions. The Association sponsors, organizes and administers two intra-school competitions. In the fall semester, there is a transfer student competition for students who transferred to Hofstra full time this semester from other law schools or from the part time division. In the spring semester, a competition is held for all students who are interested in becoming a member of the Moot Court Association based upon a brief presented by the Moot Court Executive Board, the governing body of the Association. Both competitions give students the opportunity to hone their skills in an informal atmosphere. In both competitions, third year Association members provide training, with the preliminary rounds judged by a panel consisting of Association members on the Executive Board. Faculty members and guest practitioners judge semifinal and final rounds.
