Who is part of the OCS team?

OCS is staffed by the following team of experienced and dedicated personnel:

Michael J. Ende, Assistant Dean for Career Services (lawmje@hofstra.edu), is a 1989 graduate of the Fordham University School of Law, where he was Articles Editor for Volume 12 of the Fordham International Law Journal. He also holds a BA in English from the State University of New York at Albany. Dean Ende spent six years serving as the Managing Director for both Kelly Law Registry and Winston Legal Staffing, two leading companies specializing in the recruitment and placement of attorneys. Prior to entering the legal staffing and placement business, Dean Ende was a partner with the law firm of Cullen and Dykman, LLP, in Garden City, New York, where he specialized in bank regulatory and compliance and corporate transactional matters. Dean Ende has also served as Assistant to the General Counsel of the National Hockey League.

Ms. Schwartzberg is an active member of the Recruitment and Retention Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.

Vernadette Horne, Director of Career Services (lawvhh@hofstra.edu), joined OCS in May 2005, after serving as associate director of career services at Brooklyn Law School for four years. Prior to her tenure at Brooklyn Law, Ms. Horne was a litigation attorney, first with Haythe & Curley, then Coblence & Warner, where she specialized in asbestos litigation. She received a J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1986. Ms. Horne also spent three years away from law practice, during which time she was an information consultant and project manager for a corporate communications company. Ms. Horne is also responsible for overseeing Hofstra Law School’s externship program.

Doris Urbach, Executive Assistant (lawdzu@hofstra.edu), manages the front office and ensures that OCS runs smoothly. Among other things, Ms. Urbach coordinates all aspects of Hofstra’s on-campus interview program, is responsible for training students on the preparation of cover letters for judicial clerkship applications and assisting students with the location of career research materials and the use of OCS facilities.
