Hofstra University School of Law, Hempstead, NY: Hofstra Law School is proud to welcome United States Supreme Court Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg as a Special Professor of Law in the annual study abroad program in Sorrento, Italy from July 22-August 3, 2007. She will be teaching Comparative Constitutional Law along with Hofstra Law Professor Leon Friedman.

“We are delighted Justice Ginsburg will be joining us to teach in our Sorrento program,” said Fay Rosenfeld, Senior Executive Director of International Programs at Hofstra Law. “It is truly a unique opportunity for students to learn from a Supreme Court justice in an intimate setting.”

This is the fourth time that the Honorable Ginsburg will participate in a Hofstra Law School sponsored abroad program. The Sorrento Study Abroad Program is designed to introduce American and foreign law students to a substantive and relevant array of transnational legal issues, and to help provide them with the legal skills and knowledge necessary to practice law in the new global economy. Through a short, rigorous course of study, combined with extracurricular activities such as brown-bag lectures and visits to local legal institutions, students who attend the program will gain a rich understanding of foreign legal institutions, and an appreciation of the cultural dimensions of lawyering in a global environment.

Hofstra Law School, founded in 1970, is accredited by the ABA and boasts an alumni body of nearly 9,000 graduates. The school is located on the Hofstra University campus in Hempstead, New York.
