- September 2009: Prof. Elizabeth Glazer speaks at Lavender Law conference in Brooklyn, New York. The annual conference is sponsored by the National LGBT Bar Association.
- May 2009: LGBT Rights Fellows spend their summers interning at the International Lesbian & Gay Association, Global Rights, the National Center for Transgender Equality, and LeGaL.
- May 2009: LGBT Rights Fellow, Drew Gulley, awarded Citation of Excellence in Procedural Law Courses and Hofstra Law Review Alumni Writing Award.
- April 2009: Prof. Serge Martinez joins the staff of the LGBT Rights Fellowship program as Co-Director.
- November 2008: Prof. Elizabeth Glazer speaks about the rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered persons in the workplace at Nixon Peabody LLP as part of their NY office's Diversity Day.
- September 6, 2008: Professor Elizabeth Glazer will present a workshop during the Lavender Law conference in San Francisco. The workshop is titled "New Directions in Queer Legal Scholarship".
- July 8 - August 5, 2008: Professors Glazer and Lau will teach in Amsterdam at Whittier's summer program on Sexual Orientation and the Law.
- April 24, 2008: Heather Sarver is quoted in the Washington Blade, in an article discussing the military's Don't Ask, Don't Tell Policy and recent data showing an increase in the number felony waivers granted in the Army and Marine Corps.
- February 9, 2008: LGBT Rights Fellows, Heather Sarver and Frank Salamone, participated in the Williams Institute Moot Court Competition on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Law.
- Colloquium on Law & Sexuality
Hofstra Law School invites you to the newly launched Hofstra Colloquium on Law & Sexuality. The colloquium is designed to advance the cutting edge of scholarship on law and sexuality, particularly scholarship concerning the human rights of sexual minorities.During the 2007-2008 academic year, nine scholars will present works-in-progress at the colloquium. Those works-in-progress will range in topic from obscenity to employment discrimination, from comparative perspectives on sexual identity to traditionalist perspectives on same-sex marriage. The colloquium will serve as both a platform for existing leaders in the field and as a venue for cultivating new talent. | more |
