Biography

Patrick McCormack was a prosecutor in the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office for thirty years. During his career he served as a trial attorney in the felony and major offense bureaus. He was the Chief of the Rackets Bureau which investigated organized crime and conducted through eavesdropping investigations. Later, he became the Chief of the District Court Bureau which prosecuted all misdemeanor cases and trained all newly hired Assistant District Attorneys.

He then assumed responsibility for all investigative activities as the Executive Assistant District Attorney for Investigations. In 2001 he became the Chief Assistant, overseeing the daily operations of the entire office. For the last two years of his career, he was Counsel to the District Attorney.

Prior to serving as a prosecutor, he represented indigent defendants for six years as a Staff Attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County.

As an active member of the Bar Association of Nassau County, he was on the Board of Directors of from 2003 to 2007 and a member of its Judiciary Committee from 1999 to 2008, serving as Chair in 2004-2005.

He received the 2008 Outstanding Prosecutor Award from the Criminal Justice Section of the New York State Bar Association.
