Biography
Professor Leibowitz began her teaching career in the Long Beach Public Schools where she was the English Department Chairperson. While attending Hofstra Law School, she was articles editor of the Hofstra Law Review, student commencement speaker, and recipient of the Jonathan Falk Memorial Scholarship. After graduating from the law school she clerked with Magistrate David F. Jordan of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Following her clerkship she was a Litigation Associate with the Manhattan law firm of Schulte Roth and Zabel. She joined Hofstra’s faculty as a Legal Research and Writing Instructor and then became Senior Assistant Dean for Law Alumni Affairs and External Relations. She was also elected to serve as a Trustee and President of the Long Beach City School District Board of Education. In 1998 she joined the faculty of the Lawrence Public Schools. Since 1993 she has taught “Legal Issues in Public Education.”
