Endowed Scholarships

Mitchell B. Adler Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a meritorious and deserving student who best exemplifies the outstanding character and qualities Mr. Adler possessed. Created in memory of Mitchell B. Adler, a 1976 graduate of the Law School, by his family.

Hank Bjorklund Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a meritorious student with demonstrated financial need. Established by Hank Bjorklund, Class of 1980.

Black Law Student Alumni Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student(s) in good standing who is a member of the Black Law Student Association for at least one year; has a minimum GPA of 2.75; demonstrates a commitment to public service; and demonstrates academic achievement and financial need. Established by the Black Law Student Alumni Association.

Bertram D. Brettschneider Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to an entering student who has financial need, academic credentials and displays the intellectual curiosity and analytical clarity that were the hallmarks of Professor Brettschneider’s work. Established by Professor Brettschneider’s family.

Andrea & Kenneth Brodlieb Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student who has demonstrated academic achievement and financial need. Established by Kenneth Brodlieb.

Linda Carmody-Roberts Endowed Scholarship in Trusts & Estates/Elder Law
Awarded to a student pursuing a career in the area of trusts and estates, particularly in elder law. Established by George Roberts, in memory of his wife, Linda Carmody-Roberts, Class of 1974.

Joni Cesta Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to an entering student who has demonstrated an outstanding record of achievement and financial need, with preference given to children or spouses of 9/11 victims. Established by the University in memory of Ms. Cesta, a 1991 Hofstra Law School graduate who perished on September 11, 2001.

Barbara & Maurice A. Deane Distinguished Academic Scholarship in Law
A full-tuition scholarship awarded to a student who has demonstrated an outstanding record of achievement. This scholarship is awarded for all three years of law school, provided that the student meets the minimum scholarship renewal criteria. Established by Maurice A. Deane, a 1981 graduate of Hofstra Law School, and his wife, Barbara, in appreciation of Hofstra Law School.

David Diamond Memorial Scholarship
The David Diamond Memorial Scholarship, established with gifts from alumni and friends of Professor Diamond, will be awarded to second-year law students who demonstrate a commitment to trial advocacy and/or public service.

Boomer Esiason Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to an entering student who is interested in pursuing a career in sports law and whose credentials indicate both academic merit and potential in this area. Established by Boomer Esiason.

Jonathan Falk Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to an outstanding student(s) who exhibits academic excellence, leadership and a concern for peers, as well as an interest in labor law. Established in memory of Jonathan Falk, Class of 1977, by his friends and family. Mr. Falk was an associate at the firm of Jackson, Lewis, Schnitzler & Krupman, specializing in labor law.

Ricky Feldman Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to an upper-level student in need who has a record of unusual service to fellow students and is a dedicated, caring and spirited student leader. Established by the family of Ricky Feldman, Class of 1988.

Jeffery D. Forchelli Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student who is civic minded and has demonstrated an obligation to the larger community. Established by Jeffrey D. Forchelli of the law firm Forchelli, Curto, Schwartz, Mineo, Carlino & Cohn, LLP.

Sari M. Friedman ’77, ’80 Endowed Law Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving student(s) based on academic achievement and/or financial need, with preference given to a student with a concentration in family law. Established by Sari M. Friedman, Class of 1980.

Milton M. Gardner Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student(s) who has demonstrated economic need as well as academic achievement or potential. Established by Dr. Milton M. Gardner, former trustee emeritus of Hofstra University.

Marcia Garfen Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving entering student selected on the basis of academic achievement and/or financial need. Established by Lenard Leeds, Class of 1974.

Albert & Pearl Ginsberg Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to an entering student who permanently resides outside the tri-state region and who has a demonstrated record of meritorious academic performance. This scholarship is awarded for all three years of law school, provided that the student meets the minimum scholarship renewal criteria. Established by Laurence Ginsberg, Class of 1979, and his family, in memory of his parents, Albert and Pearl Ginsberg.

William R. Ginsberg Memorial Summer Fellowship in Environmental Law
The William R. Ginsberg Memorial Summer Fellowship in Environmental Law, established through the generosity of the Estate of Marian O. Naumburg, will support students pursuing public sector summer externships in environmental law.

Shirley & Hyman Goldstein Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to an upper-level student who has demonstrated a record of meritorious academic performance and who has surmounted challenges (death in the family, illness, etc.). Established by Professor Susan Joffe, Class of 1989, in memory of her beloved parents, Shirley & Hyman Goldstein.

Commissioner Monica Gollub Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Awarded annually to a meritorious student who cannot attend law school without financial assistance. Established by Gerald E. Gollub, in memory of his wife, Monica Gollub, former commissioner of the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board.

Myrka Gonzalez and David Ochoa Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to an entering student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement or potential and financial need, with preference given to a student of Hispanic descent. Established by Myrka Gonzalez, Class of 1982, and her husband, David Ochoa.

Dwight L. Greene Endowed Memorial Scholarship
A full-tuition scholarship awarded to an entering student who is committed to the ideals of equality, justice, diversity and excellence to which Professor Dwight L. Greene devoted his life’s work. Established by the law firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell and Professor Greene’s family and friends.

Honorable Frank A. Gulotta Endowed Scholarship of the Columbian Lawyers' Association of Nassau County, Inc.
Awarded to an upper-level student who is a resident of Nassau County with one or both parents being of Italian ancestry. Established by the Columbian Lawyers’ Association of Nassau County in recognition of The Honorable Frank A. Gulotta.

Blanche E. Jeffery Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a female student who has demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievement or potential. Established by the Jeffery Family Foundation in honor of Blanche E. Jeffery.

David K. Kadane Endowed Fellowship in Public Interest Law
Awarded to a law student providing assistance to the Hofstra Law School clinical program during the summer. Established by the Law School in memory of Professor Kadane.

Peter S. Kalikow Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to an upper-level student who has demonstrated an outstanding record of achievement. Established by Peter S. Kalikow, a trustee of Hofstra University.

Sidney Kalikow Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving entering student selected on the basis of academic achievement and/or financial need. Established by Edward Kalikow, Class of 1978, in memory of his father.

Sidney & Pearl Kalikow Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to an upper-level student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and financial need. Established by Edward Kalikow, Class of 1978, in memory of his parents, Sidney & Pearl Kalikow.

Alan B. Koslow Endowed Scholarship in Entertainment, Gaming & Sports Law
Awarded to an deserving entering student who demonstrates a strong interest in and the capacity to pursue a career in entertainment, gaming and/or sports law.

LaLSA Endowed Alumni Scholarship
Awarded by the LaLSA Alumni Scholarship Fund Committee to provide economic support to those students who exhibit a commitment to the Latino community and/or to the Hofstra University Chapter of the Latino Law Students Association; financial need for additional resources with which to finance their legal education; and academic promise toward completing a J.D. degree at Hofstra University.

Neil D. Levin Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student who has demonstrated an outstanding record of achievement and financial need. Established by Hofstra University and the Levin family in memory of Mr. Levin, a 1981 Hofstra Law School graduate who perished in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

Lubov Family Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to an upper-level student who has successfully completed the first year of law school with a minimum GPA of 3.0 has continued his/her legal education directly following undergraduate work and has successfully demonstrated service to the Law School through extra curricular activity. Established by Alvin and Adrienne Lubov.

Ella Mandelbaum Endowed Law School Scholarship
Awarded to a prospective or current student in good standing whose credentials indicate academic merit and who demonstrates financial need. Preference given to students who have ties of residence to the state of New Jersey. Established by David Mandelbaum in memory of his mother, Ella Mandelbaum.

Sylvia Martin Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and financial need. Established by the Martin-Lehrer Foundation in memory of Sylvia Martin.

Raymond J. McKee Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving entering student selected on the basis of academic achievement. Established by Janis M. Meyer, Class of 1981, in honor of her father Raymond J. McKee.

Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone, LLP Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student who has demonstrated an outstanding record of achievement. Established by the law firm of Meltzer, Lippe, Goldstein & Breitstone, LLP.

Marilyn Monter Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving student(s) based on academic excellence. Established by Marilyn Monter, Class of 1976.

Patricia F. Moore Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a qualified student(s) who has demonstrated economic need as well as scholastic achievement. Established in memory of Ms. Moore, Class of 1978, to keep alive the ideals and values that Patricia Moore exemplified in both her personal life and in her career as a lawyer.

One Hundred Black Men Endowed Law Scholarship
Established by One Hundred Black Men to support the education of outstanding students at Hofstra Law School.

BT Paryani Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student based on meritorious academic work and demonstrated financial need. Established by Gul Paryani, in honor of his father and his passion for helping those in need.

Arthur Pergament Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a meritorious J.D. /M.B.A. degree candidate. Established by Arthur Pergament, Class of 1985.

Ricardo Ramos Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving entering student from a traditionally unrepresented ethnic group who has demonstrated strong leadership abilities and a strong interest in and the capacity to pursue a career in or related to the capital markets or financial services industry, including the practice of securities, commercial or business law. Established by Samuel Ramos, Class of 1991, in memory of his father.

John J. Regan Memorial Endowed Distinguished Academic Scholarship
Awarded to a student who has demonstrated academic achievement. Established in memory of John J. Regan, former Dean of the Law School.

Joseph M. Rizzo Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving 2L or 3L Law School student(s) who demonstrates academic achievement and an interest in pursuing a career in criminal law. Established by Jessica Zimmerman, Class of 2004, in memory of her classmate and colleague, Joseph M. Rizzo.

Arthur D. Sanders and Jerry Spiegel Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student demonstrating financial need and academic merit (top 10 percent of their college graduating class). Strong preference given to those whose father is deceased. Established by Arthur D. Sanders ’77 and Jerry Spiegel.

Lawrence C. Schoen Scholarship in Memory of Howard H. Born
Awarded to an entering student from the New York area who demonstrates superior academic standing and financial need. Established in memory of Howard H. Born.

Noah Sher Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to an entering student who demonstrates outstanding academic achievement and who has overcome obstacles in his or her life. Established in memory of Noah Sher, Class of 2003, by his family and friends.

Harold & Eva Singer Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. Established by Ezra Singer, Class of 1978, in honor of his parents.

Edward J. Speno Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student who has demonstrated extraordinary academic achievement and financial need. Established in memory of former State Senator Edward J. Speno by his wife, Audrey Glacken.

CV Starr Law School Endowed Scholarship in the School of Law
Awarded to a student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and financial need. Established through the generosity of the CV Starr Foundation.

Sidney Storch Research in Law Scholarship
Awarded to a student participating in legal research for a Law School faculty member with the purpose of the research being part of the faculty member’s work to be published. Established by Bennett J. Wasserman, Class of 1974, in memory of his father-in-law, Sidney Storch.

Robert and Michelle Wallach Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving student who is selected on the basis of academic achievement and demonstrated financial need. Established by Robert Wallach, and his wife, Michelle, a 1994 graduate of the Law School.

Justice Raymond L. Wilkes Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to deserving and talented students with demonstrated financial need in support of their enrollment in the E. David Woycik, Jr. Intensive Trial Techniques Program. Established by Beverly Wilkes in memory of Justice Raymond L. Wilkes.

Glenn J. Winuk Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a student who has demonstrated a record of community service, meritorious academic performance and financial need. Preference given to children and spouses of 9/11 victims. Established by the University in memory of Glenn Winuk, Class of 1987, who perished on September 11, 2001.

E. David Woycik, Jr. Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and financial need. Established by E. David Woycik, Jr., Class of 1980.

Eugene M. Wypyski Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a student who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. Established in memory of Professor Eugene M. Wypyski, one of the founders of Hofstra Law School and its first law librarian.

Awarded to a second year law student from the top 20% of the class who either permanently resides in Nassau, Suffolk or Queens counties or has an interest in working on Long Island after law school. Established by the law firm of Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP.

Class of 1977 Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving entering student selected on the basis of academic achievement. Established by members of the Class of 1977 in honor of their 30th reunion.

Outstanding Hofstra Law Review Member Annual Scholarship
Awarded to a Law Review member who has shown extraordinary commitment to the Law Review. Established by alumni and friends of the Law School.

Stephen Wasylenko Annual Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a deserving entering student(s) in the Law School’s Evening Division on the basis of academic achievement and/or financial need. Established by the law firm of Winston & Strawn LLP.

Hofstra Law Review Alumni Writing Award
Awarded to the student with the best Law Review note. Established by Katherine Dieterich, Class of 2005, and friends of the Law School.

Mike Belkin Award for Excellence
Awarded to the 2L student over 40 years of age who has achieved the highest grade point average at the end of the academic year. Established by Janet Belkin, Class of 1978, in memory of her husband.

Gina Maria Escarce Scholarship
Awarded to a graduating student who has contributed to his/her learning and understanding of difficult concepts through questions in class and participation. Established in memory of Gina Maria Escarce, a law student, by the Law School, her family and friends.

Monroe Freedman Excellence in Criminal Justice Award
Awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated academic and perceived excellence in understanding ethics in the criminal justice system. Established by The Hirshhorn Foundation in honor of Professor Monroe H. Freedman.

William Eric Goldberg Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a graduating student who has provided significant support and leadership in improving the quality of life and educational experience for others. Established in memory of William Eric Goldberg, Class of 1999, by his friends and family.

Judge Edward Hart Memorial Scholarship for Excellence in Trial Advocacy
Awarded to graduating students who have demonstrated excellence in trial advocacy. Established by the law firm of Rivkin Radler LLP in honor of Edward Hart, a distinguished judge, accomplished trial lawyer and former partner at Rivkin Radler.

Herman Hillman Real Estate Award
Awarded to a graduating student who shows evidence of exceptional work in the area of housing or real estate. Established in memory of Professor Herman Hillman by his wife, Edith Hillman.

Stephanie E. Kupferman Endowed Scholarship
Awarded to a graduating student who has exhibited a commitment to protecting the rights of children and the pursuit of juvenile justice. Established by Judge Theodore R. Kupferman, in honor of his daughter, Stephanie E. Kupferman, Class of 1990.

D. Carl Lustig III Endowed Award in Tort Law
Awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated extraordinary academic performance in tort law. Established by D. Carl Lustig III, Class of 1978.

Ruskin, Moscou, Evans & Faltischek Endowed Award for Outstanding Appellate Advocacy
Awarded to the winners of the Hofstra Moot Court Seminar competition. Established by the law firm of Ruskin, Moscou, Evans & Faltischek.

Jonathan Roppolo Memorial Annual Award
Awarded annually to an outstanding Child Advocacy Clinic student. Established in memory of Jonathan Roppolo, Class of 2000, by his parents.

Deborah Sloyer Memorial Scholarship in Trial Advocacy
Awarded to a graduating student who demonstrates excellence in trial and appellate advocacy courses. Established in memory of Deborah Sloyer, Class of l979, by her parents, Shirlee and Seymour Sloyer.

Leon Stern Criminal Courts Bar Association of Nassau County's Award
Awarded to a graduating student who demonstrates an interest in criminal law and trial advocacy, shows an involvement in community-based legal and/or civic activities, and has financial need. Established by the Criminal Courts Bar Association of Nassau County, in memory of Leon Stern, who served as an Assistant District Attorney in Nassau County as well as President of the Criminal Courts Bar Association.

Benjamin Weintraub and Alan N. Resnick Bankruptcy Law Award
Awarded to the graduating student who is most likely to make a significant contribution to the field of bankruptcy law. Established by the family of Benjamin Weintraub.
