As part of its mission, the Law Library seeks to meet the legal research needs of Hofstra Law alumni. Hofstra Law alumni are welcome to visit the Library and to use the Library’s resources, including many of our online databases.
Reference Assistance
Our reference librarians are also available to provide advice on research. They have law degrees in addition to other advanced education and are available to assist you at the
Reference Desk, over the phone (516-463-5908) and through our instant messaging and
text message reference services. Links to frequently requested information are available on this page, and we look forward to assisting you in the coming years.
Westlaw and Lexis access
Although we are not permitted to give alumni passwords for academic Westlaw and Lexis access, the Library has a Westlaw Public Access Computer (WestPAC) available for alumni use.
This PDF file explains what content is available via WestPAC. Hofstra Law alumni can also use LexisNexis Academic (a different version of LexisNexis) for Shepardizing and legal research, including searching law reviews.
Online Resources
Hofstra Law alumni are able to access a number of specialized databases from public computers in the Library, including HeinOnline and BNA databases. A full list of the Library’s online resources is
available here. You must come to the Library in order to access these databases.
Printing
Printing for WestPAC or other online resources is slow and is not available on all of the Library’s computers. We recommend that Hofstra Law alumni who use these resources bring a flash drive to download the results.
Borrowing
Hofstra Law alumni do not have borrowing privileges at the Law Library. Several photocopiers and a scanner are available for patrons to copy and scan small portions of the Library’s print materials.
Axinn Library
Hofstra Law alumni are also welcome to use the
Axinn Library.
