Accessing Databases From Off-site

Accessing databases labeled LAW or UNIV:

To access databases labeled LAW or UNIV from off campus, you will be prompted to log in with either your name and 700 number (the number on your Hofstra ID card) or your Hofstra Portal login.

Logging in with your name and 700/701 number:
Your 700/701 number is your University ID number. This can be found on your ID card, starting with either 700 or 701.

You must enter your name as it appears in Hofstra’s official database. A common error is to enter a nickname rather than a full name. For example, you should enter “Joseph” rather than “Joe” and “Elizabeth” rather than “Beth.”

Logging in via the Hofstra Portal:
There are a few links in the Law Library’s list of databases that point to Axinn Library’s list of databases. To access Axinn Library’s list of databases, you will be prompted to enter the Hofstra Portal. To enter the Portal, enter your normal Hofstra portal/Hofstra network username and password.

Still have problems logging in?

Databases labeled PW are only available to the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra School of Law community. To access one of these databases, you must obtain the password from the Reference Desk, either in person or by calling 516-463-5908.
